by Michael Beenenga
(Colorado Springs, CO)
This mural was commissioned by a foster care agency. I was fortunate enough to have been the artist chosen for the job. The entire work will be 5,000 sq. ft. when done, wrapping around all the walls of the lower level of this office building....
I used twine and push tacks, placed on the vanishing point on the horizon line, to help me with my perspective. After I drew all of the lines out I then took a sharpie marker and drew over the lines I wanted to keep, by thinning down the paint to be transparent, I was able to build the colors up in layers, giving a more realistic effect to light and shadow.
